DESCRIPTION:The Windward Institute\, in conjunction with The Windward School\, invites you to join Dave Anderson\, PhD\, of the Child Mind Institute for “Helping Children Thrive: Applying the Science of Connection\, Belonging\, and Motivation.” Dr. Anderson explores the science of student belonging and motivation and offers practical strategies to support K-12 learners at home and at school. \nResearch shows students learn best when they feel connected\, supported\, and a true sense of belonging\, with strong ties among teachers\, peers\, school\, and families. That connection boosts motivation and achievement\, and makes students more willing to participate\, take intellectual risks\, and persist through challenges. \nFollowing the lecture\, attendees are invited to stay for a light reception\, where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with fellow attendees and Dr. Anderson. \nJoin us at The Windward School’s Westchester Middle School campus\, 40 W Red Oak Lane\, White Plains\, NY 10604. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.\, lecture begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday\, December 2\, 2026. \nCTLE credit is available.
